FSX and Sound Problems

Featured Replies

I've really been enjoying FSX up to date but I've just started to notice a problem. After going into the menu and coming out no matter whether I change a setting, heck even pausing the sim and unpausing causes a freeze in FS for a few moments. Sometimes as much as 15 or 20 seconds. I thought it was just normal for FS. I also noticed from time to time sound would stop working in FS. I didn't put both together as the same problem until today. My sound went out completely on the game and I couldn't get it back. Also the pauses stopped now. If I go into a menu and come out it's instant. So I decided to load up winamp and a song and no dice, it just sits there. Last time I saw a problem like that, it was a piece of software that had caused an issue with the sound card(something like a block in DirectX Sound. Until I turn off FS I'm sure I won't get my sound back.(I'd turn it off now but I'm in the middle of a VA flight I wanted to do). I can still hear myself through my mic but nothing will playback on my comp.I have a Sound Blaster Audigy 2NX(USB Version) and am wondering if anyone else has encountered this problem at all either with the same card or with another? Just trying to track down a fix for this. It will save slow reloads and such by quite a bit as well as freezes going between views and such and after minimizing FS for a bit. I'm just about positive this is all caused by the sound now. I'd just love to get this little issue fixed :-)

Hi there are new drivers out from C labs. They should work for the usb sound cards also might help. Also I had some cracking noise with my Audigy card. The problem I found was that DirectX was using my modem as a sound card source, but it did not have hardeware Acceleration turned on. So turned it on no more poping or cracking now. This might help some with that problem.

C Labs? you mean Creative? Or a third party driver maker?
