October 16, 200619 yr After some tweaking last weekend I ended up with a setup that gives me nice grapics with bearable fps. ;) Today I did a trip above Bergen, Norway, (in the Ultralight, which instantly became my favorite plane!) and it made me very, VERY happy. I really love the denser autogen of FS X and the groundtextures: they blend rather nicely! No more awful textures with some boxes scattered on them... I personally am VERY happy with the following screenshots: the abundant autogen makes it look so real! (I don't understand why some people turn autogen off altogether...!) And it looks even better when it actually moves. ;) It's so real!http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b302/JvanE/Bergen1.jpghttp://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b302/JvanE/Bergen2.jpghttp://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b302/JvanE/Bergen3.jpgI didn't want to buy FS X until I had a Vista/DX10 machine but I couldn't wait. And I'm glad I didn't wait. ;)P.S. Fps in the screenshots above is something like 12... on a P4 3.0, 1 Gb RAM and a Radeon 9800 Pro. I think that's rather nice. I applied the reduced clouds and reduced trees files from Avsim: settings are on medium high, traffic off, auto's on 30 and autogen on Very dense (or Dense... I forgot...). Weather was Building storms(I think...). All in all I think it looks awesome. I really had the idea I was flying there over Norway. :) Also due to the fact the Ultralight lets you see so much! I almost got scared of the height!!!O yes, one more thing! I think ALL zoom settings are too high in FS X! It's as if you are looking through binoculars all the time... The dshboard is always too close and the scenery too, somehow. In the Ultralight I ALWAYS zoom out to 0.40, which gives you a much wider and nicer (and realistic?) view. Do you ever zoom in or out by standard? (And is there a way to make a zoom of 0.40 standard...?)O yes, one more thing part two: I love the way the house line up with the roads (for instance in the last picture, in the bottom right corner). Together with the better groundtextures it looks so much better than in FS2004! :)
October 16, 200619 yr I agree about the zoom levels, they are different from FS9.I have found that setting 0.40 zoom in the FSX.cfg is helpful, but sometimes 0.30 is what looks best in some planes. And the autogen is far better... FPS to one side for a moment, the very dense setting is simply stuning when low and slow.
October 16, 200619 yr can you please give me the full filename for the cloud texture replacements?thx
October 17, 200619 yr Wow! Those screens are sweet. Thanks for sharing. (And glad you're having fun.)

October 17, 200619 yr >I have found that setting 0.40 zoom in the FSX.cfg is helpful,>but sometimes 0.30 is what looks best in some planes.Okay, so I should look into the FSX.cfg? Does this change the zoom for EVERY plane? I had the idea zoom was different in various planes...
