FSX tips and sacrifices.

1) Do a choice for settings, most of us won't get everything maxed (at least at this stage). Remember that we only started to feel really comfortable with FS9 just a year ago....For FSX, I choosed to sacrify very demanding AI default trafic (at zero), waiting for less sucking AI aircraft available (AI Arwark,etc)2)On my point, they key interest of FSX v.s FS9 is the great improvement of the scenery quality (texture and mesh), I based my parameters to keep maximum advantage of the scenery, all maxed scenery parameters except except Scenery density and Autogen (Dense)and clouds, minimum layer, however with 3d clouds, 60kms, and water quality to 1x high. 3)Kept Boat, road and airport traffic to minimum, and for material a 1024/768/32 config with trilinear filter and no shadow, except place shadow on the ground.4)Based on this config, I went to www.fox-fam.com website, where the best tip and tricks are available.-rename autogen default file to .bak instead of xml., replacing original autogen congig file,-resized building textures,-resized water texture, -resized tree texture and reduced number of tree types,-resided taxiway runway textures,-resized cloud textures (cloud and AI trafic are fps killers in FSX).5) The magic file. After first copying resized your cloud textures mentioned above, do not forget to copy the file cumulus01.bmp (v6 for 3D clouds, available throught AVSIN Library)to your FSX texture file, this one makes a great difference. In total, got a 12-15fps increase compared to my first try, around 20-25fps all time, except hight density areas, 17-19fps.Hope this will help, I just wanted to share this with you.RegardsPatrick Geneva, Switzerland
