October 17, 200619 yr First of all. After messing with this thing for 4 or 5 days I finallygot it to fly resonably smooth with sliders from mid to highposition and autogen on normal. Now, Ill be fair and say the ground textures are definately an improvement. I wish I could port them into FS9. But thats aboutwhere it ends. Now, lets face it. MSFS is a GA sim, always was - always will be.As a GA sim its not too bad. But, from the very begining the jets were obviously just thrown in to keep the "heavy metal" fans happyand thats about it. Other than that, flight dynamics and panelfunctionally wise they were very poor (we're not talking about 3rdparty add ons here now), they were very poor (putting it politely).Sadly, FSX is no different. As an example. I took the A321 for atest flight YYZ-ORF. I loaded it up just as heavy as I possiblycould ! Took off from rwy 6L and about a quarter of the way downthe runway I was up to 160 kts and rotating (now thats realistic :( )Climbed out at 3000 fpm, climbed to 5000 decided to take a chanceand tun on the AT. That was ok, increased the climb rate to 4000fpm,5000, 6000 and it never lost a beat speed wise. #### I could havedone a loop and I'll bet nothing would have happened. This froma so called fully loaded aircraft ! AS for the "auto pilot" . Wellit hasnt changed since the FS2k days and is still a peice of crap.Sorry but I AM being polite, I could have put a couple of adjectivesin front of that word. Flying along at FL310, every time theres abarometric change the things jerks around like a fish out of water. But wait ! it becomes more exciting. Approach to ORF, Im hand flyingit in as I usually do following the LOC & GS just fine with AP & AToff. Get just about over the fence and on comes the AT and AP, thrust goes up to max and it starts to climb like jack the bear, and I have a terrible times trying to get the AT shut off. Do a go-around and try it again ( three times !), same thing every time.Whats that all about ????? . Also you'd think after all these yearsthey could have included an FMC, even a generic one for all aircraft.Sorry folks but I have yet to see a Garmin 500 gps in a 737, 747Scarebus or any other heavy aircraft. Eyecandy wise, theyre verynice both aircraft and panel. And thats ok if you like sittingin the spot plane and watching them, but thats not for me. Iwanna fly them.In summary, for me at least. Will FSX replace FS9 ?? Not for a longlooong time !! Before anyone says it, yes maybe, and I say *maybe* third partydevelopers like LDS or PMDG et-al will come out with FSX versions. But, unless theyre able to work some miracles, you think you haveframe rate problems now ? Ha, just wait. You aint seen nothin'yet.
