October 18, 200619 yr So picked up my FSX today. Performance for me was in line with what I saw on the Beta so not too bad with my rig even with most sliders set pretty high.Decided to try out the MP stuff a bit. Joined one session with 8 people flying around Miami International. Nobody was ATC, so it was a bit of a free for all. That's ok. We all lined up for take off, one at a time... I did a couple circuits in the pattern and practiced my landings a bit in the 172. Then I saw somebody out in an Orion, so I vectored in on him and we did some nice formation flying for a bit before he found a grass strip and went in for a landing. I circled around and then followed him in about a minute later. VERY cool!Later this evening my buddy in NJ loaded up and we did a cooperative flight around the Atlanta area, taking turns who was in the left seat. He has his license, so he was teaching me some proceedures and such and it was actually pretty fun. We then switched to his home field in NJ and both took out the Extra 300's and put on a little impromptu airshow and dogfight. (I can't wait for somebody to make some sort of little dogfight setup with a gunsight and when you "hit" the other guy it turns on the smoke trail ;-) ) Also checked out the ATC system. Looks like it could be interesting if there's a lot of aircraft in the area, but I don't see it being really all that useful when you can't have a worldwide network of controllers hooked together the way VATSIM works. Be a lot nicer if MS had set up some massive persistent servers that we could hook into and fly around in and jump into the ATC on. The lack of AI aircraft and AI ATC while in MP is kind of a bummer as it limits what you can do.OVerall though, MP is a lot of fun! Can't wait to do some long haul flights with my buddy.--2002cbr600f4i
