October 18, 200619 yr Wgen we join a session in multiplayer mode most of the time people are "flying" around some airfield completely unknown to us. It would be great to access the Map view in order to get important airfield info such as rws, tws, parking slots, etc... Yet, the Map view is inhibited during multiplayer.Just a thought...Multiplayer and the new functionalities IS GREAT!
October 18, 200619 yr FSX's multiplayer was changed radically from FS9's and one of the changes incorporated was the host's control over what the players can do during a session. For example, the host can choose not to allow players to pause the game, change airplanes, change weather and time and so forth. So if the server has been set up to severely restrict the player's actions, you can not use the menus to access certain items. There seems to be a way around this, however; if you assign a key to the "Map" command under control settings, you should be able to access the map even if access to the menu item has been restricted. I've assigned "Map" to the comma key (,). I know for a fact that it works with the Learning Center, which you can't access through the menus during a multiplayer session (not sure if it's always inaccessible or only if the host wants it to be). On my system the shortcut for Learning Center is CTRL+'
October 18, 200619 yr Well,it doesn't work :-(I tried your suggestion and defined a key for the Map ON/OFF. It works everywhere but in the Multiplayer mode...
October 18, 200619 yr That's a shame :/ The map shortcut doesn't follow the same logic as the learning center one does, then.Unfortunately I've been having more of my earlier FSX multiplayer problems so I haven't been able to verify this. I can't wait for FSHost to be updated.. I really don't like how flaky FSX's multiplayer is through GameSpy.
October 19, 200619 yr Good suggestion. Please make sure to visit http://fsinsider.com and enter it in the feedback form.
October 19, 200619 yr Done ;) I listed a couple of other important multiplayer issues, too. They're all minor (nothing like "please re-write the whole engine"), so I'm hoping they get patched in the (near) future.
