October 18, 200619 yr Hi all. I have been without a computer for several years and as such haven't played a flight sim since FS2002. I just recently purchased a new system and picked up FSX yesterday. So far I have been blown away by the game. Surprisingly, it is running pretty well on my system. Still need to work on getting about 5 more fps over cities, but I am amazed at what they have been able to do since 2002. So after all this my question...While I completed most of the lessons in 2002 (and the ones in FSX seem really similar) I feel compelled to start from the beginning and do them over again. As I was going through them I noticed the game would not let me complete the first and third lessons. The first lesson deals with straight and level flight. Obviously this is a no brainer lesson but I get to the part where the instructor is about to tell me about the trim wheel and he never continues. He says that I should pause to give myself time to contemplate the trim wheel. The first time I didn't pause as I feel pretty familiar with the trim wheel but he never continued. I then figured it was required that I pause so I ran the lesson again, paused and unpaused and once again he never continued. Did I miss something? Is this a glitch in the lesson? The third lesson deals with climbs and descents. I got most of the way through the mission and he asked me to perform a proper descent to 3,000 feet. Well, I start to do it but there is one minor problem... there is a hugh mountain about a quarter mile in front of me so obviously I cannot perform the requested descent. Once again did I miss something or is this just a glitch in the lesson?I'm sorry for such a long post. Thanks for any help in advance. It's great to finally be back on the Avsim forums!
October 18, 200619 yr yes, I had the same problems.... Took me 2 tries to get through the pause problem (I just didn't bother to pause) on the first one. For the 3rd one I had read another post from somebody complaining about the same thing, so when we got to a point where Rob is flying, I changed the heading bug for the AP to something that would point us away from the mountains and that worked. My BIG annoyance is that using my CH Yoke it's kinda hard to trim perfectly and if you get too far up or down from the designated altitude he stops the lesson and doesn't really give you a lot of time to fix it. I HATE having to refly them several times to get through them. I ended up getting ###### and just jumped ahead to the first solo flight. NOT the way I wanted to do things. I REALLY want to go through all the training this time around and learn the right way to do things!--2002cbr600f4i
October 18, 200619 yr Thanks so much for the info! I'm glad I am not the only one having problems. I will go back and try to complete the missions with the adjustments you suggested. (I don't think I really need the training at this point, but I am kind of OCD that way). :)
