October 19, 200619 yr I am divided (like most) in my opinion of FSX. I cannot get satisfactory frame rates, and yet MS have determined my system to be amongst the fastest in the Universe (system check). Heaven knows what the frame rate will drop to once certain addons (traffic) are introduced. Tweaking only effects about 1-2 fps in my experience. The biggest way to improve performance, so far was to increase memory capacity. Consequently, I dumped the FS9 previously set up on my system (after backing up of course) and introduced 50% more memory capacity. I have now managed 20 fps but only in clear skies. The cloud cover reduces fps significantly as do built up areas. Why have fencing around the airfields? Nice detail, but in my experience this type of object can reduce fps by as much as 4fps. (I am a pro scenery designer). There are some wonderful new features to the FPS platform. The cloudscape and seas are wonderful. I, like some, think the ground textures would benefit from an addon such as GE, and the autogen could be improved and made more fps efficient. I love the wet/snow surfaces on runways (welldone MS, lets have more innovation like that). I hate the gravel dust effects on the wheels
