October 20, 200619 yr hello folks out there i must say that theres way to much tweaking with little results, im not for sure what is going on but at this point in my systems life it will not play FSX at a point that is worth playing.I love what it looks like, but the strain that it is putting on my system is unbearable.and this is out of the box.my system is a 3800+64, 7800 os agp 256 vid card, 2 gig ram,80 gig sata 10,000 rpm hard drive. And i have the triplehead2go set up also.and i have everything set to default and all i get between 6.5 to 9.0 FPS.I have just about looked at and read everything that can get me going to enjoy the sim i have enjoyed for so long. All i can say is that the lucky ones that get good frame rate have fun.i dont know if i should just load FS9 back in so i can enjoy flying. So far no one can give a clear answer other than getting a brand new souped up system that i will be getting soon if even that will work .So what will it be guys a dual core triple core quadrupal core to get this flight sim working.i mean i did spend 70.00 bucks for it at least throw me a bone and tell me the secrets to making it do some simple task like playing.Yes guys im frustrated.i have spent tons of money on FS9 and it looks like i might half to go back to it untill i get a bigger engine to run FSX.im wondering if i will ever use add-ons like level-d , radar contact, active sky etc.And this is the biggest question, what will it take or what rig is out there that will handle FSX with all of the add-ons and get maximum results.i want to know if there is a system made for FSX.And i would like the facts only because i will build it.Who out there can give me specs so i can start compiling the parts and begin to create the machine that will laugh at FSX.Thank YOU............................Robert
October 20, 200619 yr I have had the luxury of being able to experiment with the latest greatest hardware and lets just say the Holy grail for FSX does not exist.Intel X6800,7950GTX, been there done that.My system I use is the AMD FX-62 with 2 gigs Kingston HyperX,7900gtx,raptor 150,super cooled all tweaked and OCed.Very little else running except FSX.Im having a blast with FSX but NO, you cannot run every setting up and get 25 plus fps all the time anytime. But good enough to be able to enjoy great graphics and have a smooth ride.Alot of people, and probaby wisely so, suggest waiting until the dx10 and vista some out but I live for today.I got the hot setup and enjoy not only fsx,fs9 but also the other games I enjoy, Fear,Ghost recon advanced warrior, ect. There will ALWAYS be something around the corner but my gutt feeling about dx10 is that its going to be a LOOOONG time before anything is really developed for it and takes advantages of any performance increases it MAY or MAY not add.Bottom line - Just like muscle cars. How fast can you afford to go?
