October 20, 200619 yr Hi all,I have installation problem, too. It keeps saying setup.exe is not a valid win32 application. What's the problem ?Daniel
October 20, 200619 yr Win XP SP2 is required.Looks like you need to reinstall Windows. (Just be thankful it's not Vista).Allcott
October 20, 200619 yr Then you need to reinstall Windows and SP2, and perhaps undo some or all of those file modifications that you've made to system settings, Registry or startup menu.I hope a poster in another forum won't mind if I just copy and paste his reply to the same question there:"Reasons for a Win32 compatibility error are: File is corrupt, bad, or missing. File is not designed for your version of Windows. File is a virus, worm, or other malware file. Hardware incompatibility The first is unlikely, unless the DVD is duff - try it on another computer to be sure The third is extremely unlikely, or else we'd all have the virus, worm or malware and your anti-virus or firewall would be screaming at you. Hardware incompatibility is possible But by far the most likely cause is the absence of Win XP in patched SP2 form, a requirement for this package."To which I would add, Win XP in a patched, unmodified form. You could try a repair install of Windows.Allcott
October 20, 200619 yr Hi Allcott,I just did a full reinstall of winXP with SP2 version but still got the same problem. Which other forum is that you are talking so that I can do a search on that ?Daniel

October 20, 200619 yr Another simple thing you might try is to reboot in Safe Mode (press F8 at the WindowsXP screen) and disable all startup programs. Some utilities like DVD extensions have been causing problems with setup.
October 20, 200619 yr Hi all,Thanks ! Actually I have tried that one. Setup started for a few seconds and then 1607 error : Unable to install installshield scripting runtime. I searched solution in MS support and it did come up with resolutions. It said this issue may occur if the user account that you use to install the game does not have administrative rights but I did ! Daniel
