FS Hangs on splashscreen, won't start after crashing, corrupt logbook

Featured Replies

Hi all,I passed the Austrian gliding mission yesterday. When I got to the view rewards screen, FSX hung with 100% CPU usage. HAd to end process to escape.Since then, even after rebooting etc, the game would not start, it hung on the splash screen with 100% CPU usage. The solution to this is to delete/remove/rename the logbook.bin file in My documents/Flight Sim X Files. It appears having this file "corrupted" causes FSX to crash. That helps get the game running. The downside is, I have lost all records of my flights. So I suggest you make backups of this file if you find it important. In the meantime I will be trying to "decrypt" my cirrupted file and see what the problem is, hopefully I will get anyone with this problem a solution.Hope this post is helpful to some guys, and may well prevent you wasting time reinstalling FSX and XP, since this is the common 'solution' people give.
