Now happy with FSX

Featured Replies

Apart from how London or the Isle of Wight looks !(Landclass & river troubles :) )I've had my new system for 6 days and have now ( at last) got FSX to perform in a way I am happy with.See sig for system details.I must say one thing though, MS should have done better with the system they use to set the intial settings when the sim is first started. When that intro flight started I could not believe what I was seeing! Aircraft textures so blurry you could not read 4feet high text:( , no scenery detail at all & ground textures, well blurry is not an accurate statement. If I was a newcomer to FS I would have thrown my hands up in horror at that sight!Surely its not too difficult to extract the Processor & Graphic Card details & produce an acceptable starting point. But I digress, here is a list of what I tweaked and my settings used within the program. I hope this helps people with similar systems.FSX Config Tweaks applied :-[TERRAIN] TERRAIN_MAX_AUTOGEN_TREES_PER_CELL=4500 (default)TERRAIN_MAX_AUTOGEN_BUILDINGS_PER_CELL=3000(default)[MAIN]FIBER_FRAME_TIME_FRACTION=0.13[bufferPools]PoolSize=5000000[Display]TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT=100NO mods to autogen files applied or files removed NO Shader tweaks applied NO replacement textures usedDisplay resolution 1280x1024FSX Scenery settings:-Global Textures maxLens flare onAdvanced Animations onAnisiotropic filter in the video driverAnti-Aliasing x4 in the video driverAircraft cast shadows onAircraft Casts shadows on itself OffAircraft lights illuminate groundDetail Radius MediiumMesh Complexity 55Mesh Resolution 19 metersTexture resolution 1mWater effects low 2.xLand detail textures onSenery Complexity Very DenseAutogen Density Exremely DenseGound scenery shadows onSpecial effects detail MediumCloud draw distance 60 miles/96kmDetailed Cloudscoverage MediumCustom weather 2 cloud layers both 4/8Airline Traffic 49%GA traffic 46%Road traffic 17%Ships & Ferries 47%leisure boats 51%Now getting 21.6 FPS when flying over London on these settings as in the pic belowhttp://www.lenshanger.co.uk/dusk-london.jpgHappy Flying!Len

Wow, very nice! I know I'd be pretty happy if I were you too. I agree with you about the initial settings detection. I don't think mine was too awful blurry but it was choppy as all get out.
