October 25, 200619 yr Hi Everyone:My ATC window does NOT work in Free Flight. When I activate it, (`) the ATC box opens but is empty without any text other than the label "ATC Menu" on the top left of the box. There is no ATC chatter.When I enter the MISSIONS mode, the ATC Window works normally with all the appropriate ATC chatter. In order to go where I want, I must first enter a MISSION. When I'm off the ground and out of the pattern so that I can contact an ATC Center, I am then able to create and open my own IFR flight plan with ATCV. The problem is that I am limited to the time of day and meteorlogical conditions of the mission. I am also limited to the mission aircraft and its characteristics and options.When I leave FSX, I receive the following message: fsx.exe - Application Error The instruction at
October 27, 200619 yr >I would reinstall, something doesn't sound right.Thanks for the suggestion, Revaz. Reinstalling would be my first natural inclination. I did run the "repair" function off the installation disk #1. However I'm concerned that if I reinstall, I will use up my 2nd Activation. I'm reluctant to do that unless I've explored ALL other options. I wish Microsoft would offer direct customer support without charge for such very unusual situations.Ed in Santa Monica
October 27, 200619 yr ONe quick thing to check which was occasionally a problem in FS9 - Have you checked the ATC settings menu to make sure a `voice` has been allocated?Oh, and also check you have the right radio frequency tuned for the ATC area you are in, you can get the frequencies from the Map. Enter them manually, and see if the box comes alive.Allcott
October 27, 200619 yr I have already uninstalled and reinstalled on my same PC about 6 times now, with no problems.
