October 26, 200619 yr Hi all!I'm a MSFS third-party scenery developer. The most important characteristics of my sceneries are:1) Large orthophotos2) Thousand and Thousand of 3D autogen objects (600 trees and 600 buildings per square kilometer)3) Thousand of 3D custom objects created by BGLComp (595 buildings per 4.8 square kilometers).3) Thousand of custom 3D gmax objectsThe limit of the number of objects placed into the sceneries is imposed by FS2004 limits! With FS2004 my sceneries running fast with all sliders to the max! With FSX... stutters, blurries, low frame rates! If in FS2004 I get 30 fps (with only 3D autogen objects), in FSX I get only 15fps!If in FS2004 I get 20 fps (with all 3D objects), in FSX I get 3 fps!!!BUT THE NUMBER OF OBJECTS IN FSX (with my sceneries) ARE THE SAME THAT IN FS2004!!!I'm furious because I don't know why the same sceneries in FSX are so slow! What's happened to FSX autogen? Why FSX is slower than FS2004 to render the SAME NUMBER OF OBJECTS? I remember you that the number of objects in my sceneries are imposed by me, basing of FS2004 limits!Excuse for my bad english ;-)Bye,Aqui
October 26, 200619 yr Sorry i cant help you but i think your post says it all, English or not!I would just like to add that the people who drop back to shader 1 can run water on 2 max and just lose out on reflections, implying that water reflections are sm2, now i have an x1900xt which the last time i checked was at least sm2 yet if i put the water on 2 at all the sim slows to a crawl, this implies to me that the gpu is doing nothing for me which is either an error or extremely lazy programming.I can dream that the abilities of graphics hardware will one day be used by fs i suppose. In the mean time, is it worth me clinging to a glimmer of hope that this will be fixed, i think not.again thanks for the objective post i thank you have cleared up at least one large part of the issue.
October 26, 200619 yr Oh, I've forgot that my comparison between FS2004 and FSX was made withouth bloom, water effects, etc.!!! The effects used in FSX was the same that I used in FS2004! No traffic at all!My hardware: AMD 3800+ X2 (Overclocked like a 4000+), 3Gb RAM CL2.5 (in Dual Channel), 2x WD360 HDD Raptor RAID 0, Ati X1900XT (Overclocked), etc...
October 26, 200619 yr Each autogen object has more polys, higher texture resolutions, the terrain has MUCH higher texture resolution, the sim's flight fidelity is higher, and 3D objects use advanced shaders. That's only the tip of the iceberg.James
October 26, 200619 yr That's actually quite strange. I can attain the same FPS on FSX with more objects on the screen than with FS9.I have an ATI X800XT PE vid card.James
October 26, 200619 yr You pay 300 to be ready for new effects, bloom or reflective water for example, and when they are really involved (FSX 10) you have to de-activate it!But be happy!!!Run 3D Bench Mark 2006 and seeing amazing results :-lol
