Fuel Systems in FSX

Featured Replies

This is probably one for any real world airliner pilots, but maybe someone else knows the answer! I'm a huge aviation enthusiast, but haven't been able to find the definitive answer to this...so here goes...Does the 737-800 (or any of the NG's for that matter) really have a fuel dump system? I know larger planes like the 747,767,777,A340 etc. have them due to the massive fuel loads they carry and landing weight restrictions, but I also know the non NG 737's have no dump feature, and generally either circle to burn fuel or can under certain circumstances do an overweight landing --- are the NG's large enough to need this feature? It's enabled in the aircraft.cfg, and does work, but if you turn it on the rate seems insane (I know you can change it) - if they do have fuel dump, how long should it take to empty the tanks (obviously not something you would really want to do in flight!)?Also, I notice it dumps from the left tank alone first, which of course unbalances the fuel load? Would it really do that? Seems wierd to me - also when I tried, and turned it off, thought, well I better balance it up before I land, so I tried to use the fuel crossfeed - and doesn't seem to work (well on the 737 anyway, perhaps it does in other jetliners, haven't tried).So...to sum up?1. Does NG 737 (800 particularly) have fuel dump?2. If so, what is the correct rate? (like time from full tanks to empty).3. Is it just a FSX quirk it dumps from left tank first, and can it be changed?4. Anyone know how to make the fuel crossfeed work?5. When you use fuel dump it doesn't show any fuel release in the wing views? Any way to turn that on? Maybe my settings aren't high enough somewhere. Thanks for any help - while I obviously don't need to dump fuel too often, I do like things to be correct!!!
