October 27, 200619 yr It's been 48 hours since I installed FSX. I spent the first night installing, taking a quick look around my local area, and doing the FSX.cfg tweaks. (I have not done any texture resizing yet). I've installed Justin's mesh for North America, the PAD turbo Beavers, the Flight 1 Cessna 172, and also copied over my EditVoicepack file and my Rwy12 update to my local airport from FS9 to FSX. Both work fine.So far I've mostly flown the Flight 1 172, but I've taken brief jaunts in the ultralight, the Mooney, and the Beaver. Tonight I flew the CRJ from Casper, Wyoming to Denver, CO. The v/c in the CRJ is as nice as any I've seen, including payware. I've messed with the sliders and I've locked my frames at 20. Flying GA in my rural area, they never drop below that. I took a flight over NYC in the Bell Jetranger and had a couple of drops to 7 fps, but it was amazingly flyable. Sometimes the scenery in FSX is simply breath-taking. My two biggest gripes are still the brown grass (I've starting flying in summer to avoid it) and the fact that my local rivers are missing. Once these two items are addressed I'll be a really happy camper.I consider FSX to be a bargain for all that it offers for the money. I haven't even looked at the Learning Center or Missions yet. There is no doubt that FSX will provide scores of hours of entertainment for me over the next few years. I'm about ready to say good-bye to FS9 for good.I sympathize with those having installation and/or activiation problems, it can be very frustrating. But as far as performance goes, I'm quite happy with it on my computer, which is FAR from state-of-the-art. A P4 2.6 with 2 gb of RAM and an nVidia 7600GT. Thanks to MS and ACES for the work, and special thanks to all those who have come up with the many tweaks that have improved the performance of FSX greatly.Jim
October 27, 200619 yr I agree it's a winner. It performs better than I expected, considering how much more is crammed into this sim than FS9.James
