Flight planning

Anyone having any luck with navigation? I have found the VOR frequencies but which planes let you enter them in the radios...like in fsx I could hit full approaches using both nav1 and Nav2 on different frequencies...or use one as a lead radial or to track my distance from the last VOR etc...in fsx I had a flight where at 26nm from the last VOR or about 20 minutes I knew to expect my lead radial needle to start moving in preparation for the runway heading and would initiate my left turn to the airport.  Fun stuff like that.With the new fangled glass cockpit you just follow the magenta line I guess.
