August 21, 20205 yr This sim is getting better by the day... Day 1. Downloaded ok, froze on initial start then ok after restart. Hotas set up - woah twitchy axis controls. Sorted by sensitivity at 50 and 0 dead zone. Played with graphics settings. Every flight would crash to desktop at some time. Frustrated. Day 2. CTD sorted by disabling MSI afterburner overclock on my 2060 super. Not a single CTD since. Not happy with washed out colours on my TV. Lots of graphics settings tweaking and experimenting. Day 3. Discovered easy cockpit camera set up similar to my Ezdok experience. Using track ir move your head to desired position / view and save as cockpit camera 1. I’ve done this for 5 views and blinded my hotas to load each camera on one of my POV switches. Unique to each aircraft and easy to set up on the fly. Top tip. Day 4. Tweaked tv picture settings to help with picture. Happier now but would be good to try with hdr off in settings but this will not go to off. Bug? Visiting landmarks and favourite airports. Quickly getting sucked into how immersive and beautiful this sim is. Got steady 60 fps with smooth performance (i7 9700k, RTX 2060 super, 32Gb RAM) on custom settings that are mid to high where needed. Flying into Queenstown through rain showers in my Cub. Amazing! Haven’t been on P3Dv4 since this launch and once we get some A2A aircraft available I can’t see myself going back. The possibilities for VFR flying in this sim are endless. Any more tips out there?
