A usual question .... I suppose

Hi,I'm almost new to FSIM and I recently got FSX.I have to tell you that I'm more interested in flying and "discover the rendered world" than in having a product that simulate better the real difficulties of flying a plane.Now, on the net I've seen some X-PLANE 8 screenshots and they looks like really photo-rendered.It seems to me that FSX textures has no the same level of details and "reality"(for examples rocks or mountains seems to be more "real" in X-PLANE).I suppose this is an "usual" questions but in your experience, which one do you prefer in terms of earth representation?Thanks for your time.
