Continuous Running With Disk 1

Featured Replies

Hi There and thank you for allowing me to join.  It is some years since I used a Flight Sim but now I am retired, I feel I have the time to devote to the subject.  I purchased the MSFS 2020 Premium Edition on day 1 and chose the 10 CD package as apposed to the download version.  Every thing downloaded without a hitch and after a few hours of trial and error, even managed to get my joystick etc working.  So I now have to concentrate on watching vids on YouTube and trying to transfer the advice into practice.  However, I do have one question I would like to ask and see if anybody else has come across it:

I was surprised to find that once installed, the only way to progress to the selection of aircraft etc was to insert Disk 1 in your optical drive.  I remember we used to have to use this procedure with a previous version of Flight Sim but it wasn't long before some bright spark came up with an ISO solution which worked perfectly and you not longer were required to insert Disk 1.  Not only does this reduce the chances of damaging the disk but if like me, you don't have an internal Optical Drive, you increase the number of USB connections which can only be good.

So my question is, can the same procedure be used in MSFS 2020 and if so, could someone explain the procedure to me in easy terms.

Thanks
