Performance Solid Now - how to be happy

Featured Replies

I have finally found myself happy and content with FSX performance on my Dell XPS Gen 2 Laptop. I can fly locked at 24 and get mostly 20 - 24 fps on landing and takeoff worldwide, except major city airports... yet freqently places like cyvr, kbos, kslc and panc are running close to that too. Rural places are blazingly smooth with scenery to die for, especially where I have spent many days flying Alaska, locked in a hotel room ( I was on a real flying trip ). ... flightsimming across alaska, japan and back to alaska. The secret .... well, not one any more, but I believe those complaining and rightfully so, have yet not deleted default.xml. Yes, I have tried all the fixes and they work. Yet, nothing gives you smoooth realiablity like deleting default.xml. You will miss the trees near cities, yes I do, and you will miss some other things, but it is rapidly made up in smoothness and crisp ground textures (they are not loading buildings as much now) and I have my autogen buildings set at only 40 and trees to 40 on my fsx.cfg. Just do it, for now, and spend some great time flying finally, enjoying what fsx has to offer! I have finally comes to grip with it, and deleting default.xml, alllows you to fly steady, smoothly worldwide and enjoyh the spectacular scenery. I have my scneeyr density at dense, and autgen at sparse and all other sliders maxed out for scnery and quality, execpt no ai traffic, no cars, no airport vehicles either...so it is a sparse world, but it is flyable and great!Peter
