Advice on buying a desktop CNC needed

Featured Replies

Hello there!

Ok, I have my JeeHell A320 FMGS installed on 2 computers, connected with FSX, using FSUIPC and MobiFlight, and finally could control one of the buttons and light up an LED. Not a bad result for one month! My 8-digit 7-segment display is ordered as well, so I will soon continue to experiment.

But my main goal is to build my "DIYCockpit". And I consider this as a 10-year project 🤗

Next step is looking for a desktop CNC (and eventually a 3D printer). I'm looking at a price range of about 400 EUR (I know, it's cheap, but if I google I see that there are a lot of options there). This CNC will be used to cut and engrave acrylic panels.

I have the feeling that a lot of these models have a small working area. As I need to be able to handle panels of 325 mm x 138 mm (lowest panel in OVHD of A320), I unfortunately need a bigger machine. A 3018 feels not sufficient.

I live in Belgium, so it doesn't make sense to buy from Australia or China. Shipping costs add 20% to the price, and I'm also worried of eventual hidden costs like import duties (most websites don't give clear information on that).

Anybody on this forum that can give some good advice?

Thanks a lot!

Hans
