The Zone of Mediocrity

Featured Replies

Kathy Sierra writes (along with her other "Head First" book series authors) an excellent and very well respected blog called [a href=http://headrush.typepad.com/]Creating Passionate Users[/a]. If Flight Simulator users do not fall into that category nothing does. She has a favorite diagram called The Zone of Mediocrity that she uses in posts at least once a week that really nails this FSX skirmishing. The premise is that in order to have true passion in your users you have to #### some of them off. We don't want an "OK" product but one that has real potential to kick butt. In order to get there and have a great product a number of people are going to angrily fall off the back of the train. Otherwise the product will languish in mediocrity.loveandhate_10.jpgShe has a corollary that fits Flight Simulator X and this forum perfectly. It is [a href=http://headrush.typepad.com/creating_passionate_users/2005/08/physics_of_pass.html]The Physics of Passion: The Koolaid Point"[/a]. The people "drinking the Koolaid" are of course the FSX "defenders" and "apologists".Aces Studio, please keep up the good work. Your users are definitely passionate. ;)
