Program not responding......aaaahhhh

Was really starting to enjoy FSX, had it set up near perfectly and had just set out on my around the world tour to take in the amazing scenery and weather effects when i tried to start it up yesterday. The splash screen comes up and the scenery load screens appear, but then nothing but an hour glass. When i close FSX down i get a "Microsoft Flight Simulator X is not responding" message that then connects me to their reporting site and thanks me for helping to improve the program but offers no reason to my increasing frustration. Have just re-installed and the same happens, considering re-installing again but this time manually deleting everything including saved files to see if there is a bug somewhere but dont fancy losing all my flight time, awards and logs.Anyone else having this problem?
