Can't Load Flight Plan

I've had this issue since the beginning. Reported on Zendesk but no help.

When I load a saved flight plan, it shows up fine on the globe.  I can hover over any click spot or on fly and it changes color.  In dev mode the frame rate counter and everything else is still churning.  But nothing happens, the only way out is with the 3 finger salute.  I'm using the version downloaded from the Microsoft store, and changing the install directory to an SSD used only for the sim.  

Today I uninstalled the sim and deleted everything on the SSD.  Did the whole download process again and absolutely nothing has changed.  I'm out of ideas and I don't think I'm ever going to get an official solution.  Can anyone offer any advice?  Thanks
