I've tried to land at KSBM several times in the C172, nice approach speed, flaps down, 66 knots or so, suddenly as I approach the vicinity of the airport I'm WAY too high and furthermore can't get the plane down. I know how to land a Cessna, I've done it at all the surrounding airports to Sheboygan, WI - are there some funky thermals keeping me from getting the airplane down?

Just tried it at KSBM ILS RWY 21. The aircraft was nicely descending and on the localizer and glidescope. All of a sudden the VSI started rising to +1,000 ft/min. After disengaging the AP I was able to bring the aircraft down in a steep descend. I don't know what is going on there...Jozef K. http://homepages.onsnet.nu/~jkusters/signature.jpg
