Airport vehicles

Featured Replies

Hi guys, Has anyone found any new airport veicles yet that can subsitute the default MS ones. I would like to see a real fuel tanker instead of something that looks like a water bowser. Also the conveyer belt baggage truck arrives even for the heavies... What happened to the container system. Or is that just too complicated?CheersDaren

There are a few different types of fuel truck in the SimObjects folder but I think I've only seen one type at an airport (the bowser). There are a few other service vehicles as well including a catering truck, a power start unit and even a sewage truck. I wonder if you can specify the fuel truck in an airport definition file somewhere - must check next time I'm at my FSX PC. I was hoping to spot a mobile stairway as well but no joy - if anybody knows if one is freely available, please let me know.I've been trying to write a SimConnect app that will autospawn these vehicles near the fuel truck and then get them to come to your aircraft when you request them. Unfortunately the AI vehicles are programmed not to come anywhere near your aircraft (but will happily drive straight through AI aircraft). I think this is to avoid colliding with it and annoying people. I can get the vehicles to move to within about 50m of the user aircraft using SimConnect and waypoints but then I have to take over manual control (i.e. stop providing waypoints and just say 'speed up' or 'turn right'). Timing all this isn't proving very easy however and I'm still fiddling away with it.I think if you want different types of baggage/container trucks to arrive for your heavies, you had better start modelling now (or ask the modellers very nicely)...

I posted on a thread like this a while ago, but never got much joy... My question then and now is:There seems to be 3 assigned "Types" of exits...0=Main 1=Cargo 2=EmergencySo! For aircraft that do not use jetways, or for airports that do not have them, can a stairway truck be assigned to, say 2=Emergency?I'm sure there must be a fairly easy way to do this?
