November 25, 200619 yr Has anyone successfully installed the Italy region pack by Francesco Mandelli? I love to fly Italy and this sounds like a terrific upgrade but having a hard time with the install directions which say to unzip to the main fsx folder the way you did with his italy seasons and that a subfolder, Italyregionspackscenery would be created and that you then do a manual add on from the scenery library. What happpens is that the unzip distributes the scenery files into the scenery folder within the main fsx folder without creating any subfolder. I have created one and put the files into it but then I can't seem to install from the scenery library. Maybe they don't have to be added since they are in the main scenery folder of FSX?? Hope someone can help because I would really like to have some improvement in Italy. Thanks a lot
November 28, 200619 yr Hi,I got the same problem, the package is fine but the explanation for install is not clear as it doesnt extract properly. However, I used a more simple and direct solution.Just open the file (unzip, do not extract) and copy past all the news files into your FSX/Addonscenery/scenery folder. It will just change the scenery without modifying any of the existing files, which mean you can just remove it if you don't like it.North of Italy, South of France, part of Switzerland look much better, but the Rome, as well as Sardainia are still quite desertic.RegardsPatrick Jorand
November 28, 200619 yr Author Yes there's an error in Francesco's install instructions, he admitted to it and apologized in his blog (http://aliditalia.blogspot.com/ in Italian only).Basically you should first create manually a folder called "Italyregionspack", either in your FSX folder (as Fabrizio suggests) or in the Addonscenery folder as Patrick says, or wherever it is you keep your third party sceneries.Unzip "italy_regionspack_for_fsx.zip" in the folder you've just created and activate the scenery as usual from the scenery library.@Patrick Sardinia, together with Sicily and Puglia (Italy's "heel") are still arid because they're the aridest regions in Italy and Francesco decided not to change the textures for those areas.Have a look at the picture "regions.jpg" included in his install to see which parts of the country were modified (the green parts have been changed, the yellow ones are still default).Cheers,Pietro.
