December 25, 200619 yr Hi all,I just got FSX for Xmas, after loading disc 1 it promps to insert disc 2, but after inserting disc 2 into the CD drive nothing happens at all, and it will not load.I don't get any error messages at all it just will not load, any suggestions on what might be causing this?
December 26, 200619 yr My dad had the same problem and i tracked it down to the fact that he didnt have autorun enabled for his cdrom drives on his machine. If you open windows explorer and look at the cd drive that has fsx disc 2 in it you should see that it is listed in explorer. If explorer doesnt update when you insert new discs then the game wont recognize cd2. Usually cd burner or multimedia dvd creation software disables autorun and a simple registry fix and reboot will bring it back. You can also copy the contents of both disc 1 and 2 to a folder on your hard drive and install it from that folder and it wont ask you for any disc2 during the install. If you do that then when you copy disc2 to the folder on your hard drive it will ask you to overwrite a few files that are already there, but go ahead because they are duplicate files from disc1 anyway.
December 26, 200619 yr Another problem here, from what I've heard is, if you have a packet writing program resident (most people with burners do) that will cause a conflict, for some reason, with DVD 2. So, if you have say Roxio (Direct to Disc) or Nero (I forget the app) you need to configure the program so that the packe writing applet does not start automatically. I have Roxio and only start Direct To Disc when I need it; which is almost never. (Packet writing programs are what allow Windows to use a blank CD or DVD as a big floppy; if you don't do this you don't need it to load with Windows)
December 26, 200619 yr Well,I found my problem, after exploring both CD's I found out that they both have the same files on them.It looks like I am going to make a trip to Best Buy today to exchange them. Thanks for the response, we will see how it goes next time when I have the 2 different CD's! Thanks again, Hogans.
