One thing that has long bothered me is how long it takes the engines to spool up (or down) in, for example, the 737, 747, Lear, Airbus, etc. On older aircraft, this lag seems reasonable. However, modern turbofan engines do not have this issue to such an extent. Sure, there is a slight lag, but I should not have to wait 10 seconds before takeoff power is reached.
