ORBX EGLC for P3Dv5 - a hacked solution

Featured Replies

Hi all.

I thought this might be worth mentioning here. If you know and love ORBX's EGLC for P3Dv4, you will have been missing it in P3Dv5 since (apparently) ORBX doesn't intend to update it any time before the end of this interglacial era.

Anyway, a poster BuddhistManX at the ORBX forum said he'd been experimenting with hacking the airport to get it to work and has had some success. Basically you remove a bunch of LUA scripts and add a CVX that he created to fix the elevation issues from the ground poly. Of course, you lose whatever graphical bells and whistles the scripts you remove are adding (I think they're all PBR scripts), but with them removed and the BGL added, EGLC finally looks normal again in P3Dv5 for me. As of yet I can't spot anything missing, though I've only tried it for 5 minutes in daylight.

You can find the details (and download his CVX file) from this thread in the ORBX forum:

https://orbxsystems.com/forum/topic/205667-egcl-what-are-the-latest-new/?do=findComment&comment=1753991

(That links to his first post, the CVX file is included in a post further down the page.)

Note that ORBX Central will not allow you to install EGLC under P3Dv5, so you need to have the airport files already available or install for P3Dv4 and move them, and sort out the add-on mapping manually in P3D.
