June 29, 20214 yr Thinking about new monitor for MSFS. Would you recommend a simple 2K/4K flat monitor with fixed rate like 60 Hz, a curved monitor like Acer X34, tv like the new oled LG A1 48 (48A16LA ?) or something bigger? Is 8 bit enough? Better 8 + FRC? 10 bits? With or without HDR? I read that HDR is nice but it doesn't run well... I have one RTX 3080 card... Tks
July 1, 20214 yr With a 3080, you can get some serious eye candy. I currently use a 34" curved ultrawide and I don't think I'll ever go back to a flat screen again. The curve really does make a difference, in my opinion. With your video card, I'd consider a 1440p monitor at the very least, but you can definitely jump up to a 4K monitor easily. Also consider the reports of massive performance improvements for MSFS 2020 with the upcoming sim update V and that will go a long way towards getting the most out of your setup. Or...if you really want to be immersed, consider a VR headset, but that's a whole different ball of wax.
