July 10, 20214 yr Its a shame that you have archived GEFS. I am a private VFR pilot. It got too expensive to continue in real time flying so I maintained my flight activity on GEFS. GEFS provided me with real world challenges such as, if you fly into a mountain you crash. the SR22 is a nice aircraft to fly. So is the F16. Over the years I have flown into and outlined 4300 airports all over the world on GEFS. Airports are set up with outlined runways, Airport info that you can see 70 miles away containing IATA rwhdg elev & rwlen. At 17,000 above each airport is an Visual Orientation Marker (VOM) containing IATA indicator identifying the airport. At many airports I have added Runway Alignment Markers (RAM) 11 miles out and 5,000 feet AGL based on the airport elevation These markers allow for a -5 decent visual approach to the end of the runway. I fly GEFS daily using mouse and keyboard. all at NO cost. Google has come a long way since they introduced GEFS . Some good, some bad But it is very flyable and even cross country VFR can be accomplished using the VOMs.
