Discovery Flights Performance

Featured Replies

Posted this on Microsoft boards but got no input back on the subject. Hoping somebody here can explain.

I’m not a pc guru here so please forgive if this is a dumb question lol. Specs are 10700k oc to 5.2 and 2070 Super. I’m trying out these discovery flights for the first time and have noticed that my cpu usage stays very low and my GPU is running at 100% and never drops below. Sounds extreme but my temp is staying manageable and it’s the smoothest flight experience I’ve had with the sim to date. Flew around New York with High/ultra settings around 40 FPS and not a single hint of studder. If I were to go to the flight planner and take off at jfk on the same settings and fly over the same area My gpu would be running about 70% or so with probably 25-30 fps even after the su5. Still experiencing some small studders and whatnot as well. My question is why can’t gpu be pushed to steady 100% in these “discovery flights” but not in planned flights? Is this due to cache or something?
