Hardware CDU (Engravity) and Project Magenta

Featured Replies

Dear Forum,
I probably have a very specific question and therefore I need to give a longer description:
I am running FSX with Project Magenta software (Boeing GC, CDU and MCP) in a setup with 3 Win 10 computers. As specific hardware I have a MCP from CPFlight and a CDU from Engravity (firmware from 23.04.2007, V 1.05). The connection of the two devices with the software is in principle possible.
But there is the following problem:
The screen display of the hardware CDU flickers irregularly. At first I thought of a stutter in the network (there are articles and workarounds in the Magenta and WideFS documents); but this can't be the reason, because the phenomenon already occurs when the CDU software and the Engravity device are running alone and without any network connections. I checked this on different Win 10 machines and with different USB cables, so I can rule out hardware problems on the USB slots. By the way, the power saving mode is also turned off. It can't be the CDU power supply either, because the CDU runs absolutely smooth and without flickering with PMDG and the PMDG/Engravity driver from PollyPot.

To connect the control hardware I installed the following USB2COM driver: Silicon Labs Virtual COM Port (VCP) Universal Driver for Windows 10, Package version: 10.1.10, Release date: 2021-01-13. It is the latest version for Win 10 64x.

Unfortunately, the Engravity manufacturer has been unreachable for several years.
I have not yet received an answer from the Project Magenta team.

The issue remains puzzling to me: to be on the safe side, I had repeated the complete installation and reconnected the Engravity CDU with the Magenta module. On the start pages, nothing flickered at first, until I realized that I still have to enter the activation key for Magenta. After that it flickered again.

My conclusion: Something seems to be wrong in the interaction between driver and PM-CDU module.

I can of course use the current configuration like this, but it's still stupid.

I would be very grateful for any further ideas!

Many greetings

Rainer Jung
