May 19, 200719 yr I really enjoy FSX however the multiplayer restrictions when in the game suck! Why can you not got to map view in MP? or go into your settings? or change aircraft? or change the airport from the menu?
May 19, 200719 yr These are all controlled by the host, but before you change your original post from blaming Aces to blaming the hosts, you should know that these options are disabled by default and many hosts simply do not know they exist! It doesn't help that they're not spelled out clearly, either - there are no "Allow map" or "Allow settings" options for the host. Instead, there are two options labelled "Players can pause their session" and "Host can pause session for everyone". It's not immediately obvious, but when you access your map or settings in a multiplayer session, your game pauses and your airplane stops (I'm not 100% sure about the map, actually - I seem to remember sharing a cockpit with someone way back and they did not report a pause when I accessd the map). For example, if you are mid-air and open the Settings / Display window, others can see your airplane stop and just "hang" in the air.Whenever I manage to join a multiplayer session where these options are not available, I try to get in touch with the host and make sure that they are aware of the handicaps in place. So far I haven't run into anyone who has KNOWINGLY disabled these options, although obviously should they choose to do so it would be in their power. Usually the host is simply unaware of the fact that users connecting to their session can't access certain features. The advice I give these hosts is to make sure the "Players can pause their session" and the "Host can pause the session for everyone" options are ticked - they can be found by clicking the "Advanced options" button on the third screen of host setup (first being Session Information, second Session Conditions and third Host Options).I hope this helps you understand the circumstances.
