autogen and SP1 stuttering

Featured Replies

Do you get more stuttering with SP1? Here's something quick to try, and you don't even have to edit fsx.cfg.+ Back off autogen to its pre-SP1 setting.Prior to SP1, I had mine at Normal with the following lines in fsx.cfg:TERRAIN_MAX_AUTOGEN_TREES_PER_CELL=3000 // default 4500, max 6000TERRAIN_MAX_AUTOGEN_BUILDINGS_PER_CELL=1500 // default 3000, max 6000After my first flight with SP1, I was happy and called it a night. The next day, I bumped my autogen up to Dense. I also started noticing blurry textures and stuttering. Coincidence? I really don't know. Since then I've reinstalled SP1 and applied the April 2007 update for DirectX 9.0c. (There's a separate thread about that here in the forum.) I also reset my autogen to pre-SP1 levels. So far so good. I mentioned this to the person who told me about the DX update, and he backed off his autogen too, with reduced stuttering as a result. This could just be coincidence or (my favorite explanation) cosmic rays. BUT since we know that autogen rendering was a major focus of this update AND it's very easy to test (just pull back the slider), it might be worth trying, if only to get some temporary relief.
