My FSX "blurries" tweak

Featured Replies

I dont know if this has been posted before, but I was having alot of trouble with the blurries in fsx. The performance was ok, but the textures were blurry no matter what i did, I tried all the tricks on the phil taylor blogs, but no results. The only thing that has helped me was making the LOD_RADIUS= setting larger. It is locaed in the [Terrain] section of the fsx.cfg, it is set at 4.5 by default. Making this value larger helped sharpen the textures close and far away from the aircraft dramatically. Previously locking the fps rate would yeild poor performance, but since I am using this tweak the only way I can get decent fps is by locking the frame rate, so If you try this with an unlocked rate and get low fps try locking it. Right Now I am testing to find the highest playable value and the best texture bandwith multiplier for thsi tweak.

UPDATE: Just tested it again, locking the frate rate does not make a difference, what happens is when you lock the frame rate fsx makes a change to the .cfg, and it also resets the lod radius back to 4.5. And thus increasing the blurries. I have not been able to get a playable frame rate as of yet with this tweak, I will try things such as reducing the autogen and playing with the fsx cfg some more. If anyone has any results with this feel free to post.
