Overdone snow effects on runways

Featured Replies

I know this was discussed last winter, but I don't think anyone came up with a solution for the very overdone snow effects on runways. Even when the runway is bare and dry, if it's winter, you get the huge plumes of snow off the wheels, making it look like the entire plane is engulfed in smoke. If anyone knows how to reduce this effect, I'd like to hear it. Thanks,Jim

This totally unrealistic effect annoyed me too, here's what I did:I removed the following three files from the FSX Effects folder (DON'T delete them completly, transfer them to a safe place where you can find them again if you don't like it,):fx_WetEngineWash.fxfx_WheelSnowSpray.fxfx_WheelWetSpray.fxIf you have any problems, you can just put them back again, and everything will be as it was. With these three fx files removed, you still get some spray from the wheels, but it looks a whole lot more realistic than the default.Let us know how it goes!RegardsGrahame

Thanks Grahame, I'll give that a try!Jim

Thanks Nils.Jim
