Long delay in menu items

I have developed a new problem today in FSX that I never had before. When I pull down the menu and I click on any of the items in the menu I have a long delay (aprox 45 seconds) the plane is still on the screen but froze as if pause was hit but the sound continues. This problem never existed before today, clicking on a menu item was instantanius. I have not changed any settings in FSX or the computer nor have I added anything in FSX or the computer. I have run spy ware, virus scan and defragged but nothing has helped. Has anyone seen this or have any ideas that might help this problem ?Thanks
