Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 Fatal Error: DirectX 12

Featured Replies

I encountered an error when trying to launch Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 for the first time and haven't been able to resolve it. I'm sharing the details here, and I would greatly appreciate any assistance.

My AMD RX 580 graphics card supports DirectX 12, but when I try to launch Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, I receive the errors mentioned above. Based on my research, it seems that the RX 580 supports DirectX 12.0, but the game may require DirectX 12.1.

What I Have Tried So Far:

  1. Updated Graphics Drivers: All drivers are up to date using the AMD Adrenalin software.
  2. Checked Windows Updates: My operating system is fully updated.
  3. Reinstalled the Game: I reinstalled the game, but the issue persists.
  4. Forum Research: I found that similar issues were linked to DirectX version requirements.

Since I cannot launch the game, I am unable to change the DirectX version from the game settings. I would like to know if Microsoft Flight Simulator can be run with DirectX 11 or 12.0, and if so, how to configure this.

My System Specifications:

  • Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 5600
  • Graphics Card: AMD Radeon RX 580 (8 GB VRAM)
  • RAM: 32 GB
  • Operating System: Windows 11 Pro
  • Drivers: AMD Adrenalin 24.9.1 (Latest version)

If anyone has experienced the same issue or has a solution, I would appreciate it if you could share your insights. Thank you!
