I've encountered an error when updating my database.  I run X-Plane 12, Reality XP GNS 430W and the RealSimGear GNS430 Hardware Device with two G5s.  My last working database update was to cycle 2413. This week I tried to update to cycle 2503, but I get an error and the GPSs don't initialize.  The RealityXP log file shows:

It seems that there is a problem with the new database files which causes an error and endless reboot cycles.  The working files are different sizes:  5236KB (working) vs 5290KB (not working).  Was there are change in the files between the database files in cycle 2413 and 2503 which would cause Reality XP to fail upon loading the database files?

According to Reality XP tools, I am up-to-date.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.

I just figured this out.  It was a user error when creating the database file.  I use the windows app, Win32 Disk Imager - 1.0 to create the database file from my official (purchased) NAV data.  When creating the image in the disk imaging app, one must select the option "Read Only Allocated Partitions" before writing the image to a drive.  When I did this I got a file that was a few bytes smaller and it works fine.

I think my lesson is to update every 28 days so I don't forget the proper options for the file conversion tool flow.  I hope this lesson helps someone else in the flight sim community.
