Transparency masks

Basic question (to which I don't seem to be able to find an answer):In reworking an existing FS2002 panel window "mask", I am attempting to reposition and enlarge several gauges that were displayed behind a "mask" to remove their mounting hardware. Using FSPanel Studio 1.1 and PSP6 as a bitmap editor, if I load the "mask" window into PSP and select either the "black" color (shows 0,0 in the color pallet window) OR if I try to increase the size of the circles cut into the "mask" (a 74,74 gray), save the file and reload the panel, I'm still getting the original gauge circle holes covering my gauges. Window 00 and 01 are the "masks" and 02 is the Main panel bitmap. Gauges in question are mounted in the 01 window.Got to be a simple (stupid) answer here. Thanks for any help.Mike

Solution was, in fact, simple enough. The original author had mixed 0,0,0 black with 1,1,1 black using the latter as an "invisible" mask over the seemingly transparent black section. It was impossible to see but I was able to find it by moving the "dropper" in PSP6 over the "all black" area and found areas that were not 0,0,0.Mike
