Air plane geometry

When I describe the air plane geometry, the wings areas (wing_area, htail_area and vtail_area) has included the control surfaces areas? For example, I have and A/C with a vertical estabilizer of 200 square feet, and a rudder area of 30 square feet. The area of vtail must include or exlude the area of rudder? Thanks

Hi,for a wing, calculate the total area including the ailerons. enter the area as the total sum of both wings.Same for the horz stab. total sum of the complete span of the stab plus the elevators.vert stab area is total sum of rudder and vert stab. The reason for this is the control surfaces are part of the total area for the aero dynamics for normal flight.Mike Crosthwaite
