*air File "Flight Dynamics"?

Recommended Posts

Guest

Well, y'all are the pros here and I hope there is someone out there who can give me some advice. Lets not muttle things too much....take the Default Lear Jet as an example: The thing pitches like a bucking bronco and I hate flying this plane. I know there are other .air files out there but sparing myself the down load and wanting to have a little fun on my own, I'd like to tweek it a bit. I have the program AirEd but am not sure which way to change which numbers to tone her down a bit. I've checked the "Elevator Sensitivity" of some of my other planes and find numbers like -2501 or -4500 or -7607 etc. Any thoughts about an EASY way to hold this sucker still? Thanks,

Check the FS2002 SDK. Some values (in fact, many values) are now stored in the aircraft.cfg file and altering the data in the .air file doesn't do anything. In the aircraft.cfg file the following section has parameters that may alter the Lear's behaviour..{flight_tuning}elevator_effectiveness=1.000aileron_effectiveness=1.000rudder_effectiveness=1.000pitch_stability=2.002roll_stability=1.000yaw_stability=1.000elevator_trim_effectiveness=0.503aileron_trim_effectiveness=1.000rudder_trim_effectiveness=1.000Don't pay any regard to the values here - I just picked an aircraft at random. There is also a {airplane_geometry} section that also has values that will definitely change the Lear's behaviour. You can either edit the aircraft.cfg file in a text editor or use FS Edit that came with FS2002.
