Landing gear systems

Configuring landing gear that works [/p] [/p]Hello..Have been observing and tweaking many types of landing gear systems such a dual single axle, tamdem dual axles, and tandem triple axles. Some of the `dual tamdem' systems tilt down while on final and some of the `triple tandem' systems tilt up (leading wheels). If one was to configure the height, compression, and damping of a `dual tandem' and then observe a close-up landing replay.. the strut and wheel action is incorrect. The contact points can be defined for each wheel but it must work such that the tires make contact, and then the struts compress when the `whole tamdem' sets down.I am not seeing this happen - and their is little discussionThere are other `heavy' models where the struts collapse on touchdown and the plane crashes in smoke and fire.. GREAT.. but this is not CFS!! Please comment on this main gear action and it's contact-points configruation. [/p] [/p]Gregory Abbey - Edwinnengineering

Ergo, if it is modeled incorrectly, that's just the way it is...However, the 'contact points' in the aircraft.cfg should be set to that point where the wheels are in full contact with the surface uncompressed! That will take a bit of hit-and-miss tweaking to accomplish, if the modeler hasn't gotten it quite right.

Thanks Bill.. [/p] [/p]You know form many previous posts how everything gets analyze here.. and there are close-up observations (and animations being produced) of this `gear action' during touch-down which shows the dual-tandem and triple tandem `trucks' are not functioning correctly.. in fact in a very disfunctional way.http://www.edwinn.com/flightsim/triple-tandem.jpgSlew mode experiments -- increasing static height causes model to slam down..
