static cg height

Recommended Posts

In FS98 to get an airplane to load without crashing you set the CoG height from the ground to 1665 x the landing gear height (AirEd Fuselage and Landing Gear sections.) In FS2002 aircraft.cfg this appears to be controlled by the static_cg_height parameter in the contact points section. The sdk defines it but does not tell you how to set it. I have a 727 that crashes when loading. I have set the gear parameters in the contact point section to those in the air file (converted to feet of course.) How do I set this static cg height parameter? Or is there more to it? Thanks Jim

One possible way would be to delete that line from the aircraft.cfg file, set it in the air file. When FS2002 loads the plane, it'll read the value from the air file and write it in...I think.

In FS2k2, static_cg_height is set approximately equal to the length of the main gear as defined in the contact points section of the aircraft.cfg file.

The other trick about the static height and static angle values is that these are used when you go into Slew mode.If you get the values exactly right then you should be able to switch Slew on and off without the aircraft jumping up or down or changing angle.
