Is it illegal to use photos off the internet to repaint aircraft that you download if you kept the work to yourself and not share it with others? What about uploading aircraft that you repaint off of photos from the internet but not charging any money, is that illegal?

My general rule--if it is for my own use, I don't worry about it. But even if released as freeware, using copyrighted source is a violation of the copyright holder's own potential to profit... IOTW, I'd giving away soemthing they could have sold. So I wouldn't.I did a great 20x20 mile section of Phoenix as photoreal scenery.... But I've kept it to myself for about a year....-John
