I've repainted I dunno how many planes, but suddenly I can't figure out how to create a 2k2 night mask/texture.I create the light effect, make it a HARD LIGHT, save it as a 32bit .tga, convert it to DTX3 with the imagetool and end up with a totally black area on the plane. Somebody tell me what I'm doing wrong before I embarass myself any further! (2k2 night textures are masks, they're not just the old FS2000 _LM's , are they??)Torsten

Nothing to see with 32-bit DTX3 textures !If I understand you well, you want to create textures used as lighting maps and suffixed with _L. They are masks and are enabled when lights are on - not navigation lights but logo or landing lights. They are simple grayscale 8-bits bitmaps: when it's black, no effect, when it's white - it is fully lit. For example, to create a logo light, make a white light spot where the tail is on the main texture.Just one condition to make it work: the aircraft must support this feature. This is not the case of many planes.Dimitri

You have repaint an aircraft. Why don't you use the lighttexture from the original aircraft?I think you have to save the file as DXT1 with alpha and be sure the masker is not inverted.Maybe this will help.Cees
