Guys:Suppose it's 1948 and I have a small, pre-war VFR aircraft like an Aeronca K and I want to extend its' usefulness by adding to its' basic panel. What would I include? I can't imagine stuffing a 2-way radio of the day like a Skyphone into that tiny panel, not to mention the added weight and drag of the antenna. I guess every ounce counts in a 600lb aircraft with a 37hp engine. I could add a gauge or two, but which ones? A DG, artificial horizon? If I can't add a radio, does it even make sense to upgrade the instruments for night flying? I'd really appreciate your help on this one, it's bugged me for years.Many Thanks;telephile
